Jenny studied post-graduate singing at the Royal Academy of Music, London having read music as an undergraduate at Somerville College, Oxford. During her time at the Academy, Jenny was awarded The Hilda Anderson Deane Prize for solo recital, The Major Von Someren Godfrey Prize for English Song and The Sir Arthur Bliss Prize. She was a soloist for Berio’s ‘Agnus’ as part of the Berio Festival in association with the South Bank and Monteverdi’s ‘Vespers’ as part of the Spitalfields Festival. Jenny currently studies with Joy Mammen.
Jenny’s operatic roles include Yniold in a concert performance of Debussy’s ‘Pelias et Melisande’ at St John Smith’s Square, Rose Maurrant in Weill’s ‘Street Scene’ and the title role of Janáček’s ‘The Cunning Little Vixen’. Oratorio performances include Haydn’s ‘Nelson Mass’, Haydn’s ‘Creation’, Rossini’s ‘Petite Messe Solennelle’ and Mozart’s ‘Requiem’.
Jenny has sung with many choirs and is a regular soprano at The Guards' Chapel. She has performed as part of Sonoro, The BBC Singers, Philharmonia Voices, Gareth Malone: Voices, Synergy Vocals, RSVP Voices and Celestia Singers and has toured worldwide. Jenny has worked with composer Steve Reich in Japan, Salzburg, Strasbourg and Dresden performing ‘Music for 18’ and ‘Proverb’. She appeared in multiple performances with the Clod Ensemble at the Tate Modern in 'The Silver Swan' in 2012.
In 2009 she reached the semi-final of The Thelma King Award and the final of The Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition. She also took part in a performance of Bach’s ‘St Matthew Passion’ under Masaaki Suzuki as part of the prestigious Britten-Pears Young Artists programme. Jenny recorded a CD of solo folksongs ‘Ae Fond Kiss’ in 2013.
Session work includes ‘Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning’ trailer, ‘Harry Potter’ soundtrack, the Robin Gibb ‘Requiem’, backing the rapper Labyrinth on The Jonathan Ross Show and vocals for IKEA and Morrisons television advertisements. Concert highlights of recent years range from solo recitals in the UK, chorus for Mahler VIII ‘Symphony of a Thousand’ at the Royal Festival Hall, vocals for '2001: A Space Odyssey' in Shanghai, Shostakovich's 'Orango' at the 2015 Proms and performing backing vocals for a concert performance of Goldie’s ‘Timeless’ album. Jenny was also a featured on screen soloist in the documentary film 'Exhibition on Screen: Canaletto & the Art of Venice' in 2017.
Throughout lockdown, Jenny did many remote recording projects and coaching including work for Sonoro, Guards Chapel Choir, Wimbledon Choral Society, Composer Michael Higgins and Brandenburg. She has many regular choral and solo engagements at The Guards' Chapel and with Sonoro. The recent Sonoro ‘Choral Inspirations II’ Project currently have a number of concert dates across the UK following a successful recording and release in 2022. Recent solo engagements include Crowthorne Choral Society and Brockham Choral with works including Howard Goodall's 'Eternal Light: A Requiem' and Ethel Smyth's 'Mass in D'.
